In 2017, The Museum of National sigmaessays History at Frederiksborg Castle will launch the Nordic competition The Carlsberg Foundation’s Portrait Award. It is the sixth time, that the award will be presented to an artist who has given portraiture an artistic treatment of issues surrounding the identity and personas of real people, irrespective of whether that interpretation takes the form of a painting, a sculpture, a video, an installation or a work of sonic art. In 2017, Nordic artists are invited to join the competition alongside artists from China. The participation of Chinese artists is handled in collaboration with Prince Gong’s Palace Museum, Beijing. First prize is 85.000 DKK Second prize is 35.000 DKK Third prize is 15.000 DKK Audience prize is 10.000 DKK Young Talent Prizes are 10.000 DKK Special prizes are 30.000 DKK . The best portraits will be exhibited at Portrait Now! 2017 at The Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Castle. Artists from the Nordic countries have to submit by January 9, 2017, 11:59 AM. On the website you will also find the rules for the competition, guidelines for submitting the artwork.
